We're scaling fast in the North American market, bringing our embedded finance solutions to more partners and small businesses than ever before. Reporting to our Head of Underwriting, you'll help shape the way we assess and manage risk as we expand, while coaching a talented team and strengthening the foundations of our US operation.

Requirements

  • Experience: proven experience in unsecured SMB lending for sellers/platforms (embedded or acquiring/ISV ecosystems). Direct underwriting experience plus policy/strategy exposure.
  • Exposure to commercial bureaus and data vendors (e.g., Experian, Equifax, D&B) and decisioning tooling.
  • Technical: Strong Excel and Power BI for cohorting and trend analysis. Working SQL and Python for data pulls, feature checks, and quick risk studies.
  • Judgment: Track record making independent calls on six-figure exposures, with clear rationales and clean audit trails.
  • Portfolio thinking: Comfort with approval-rate vs loss-rate trade-offs, pricing impacts, renewals economics, and partner-level P&L.
  • Communication: Crisp writing and verbal updates to executives and partners.
  • Leadership: Prior coaching or team-lead experience; builds high standards and a learning culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Embedded finance or payments/ISV partnerships in the US
  • Collections/servicing collaboration for feedback loops into policy
  • Experience of scorecard design and development
  • Basic familiarity with model monitoring and validation concepts

Responsibilities

  • Lead underwriting for high-value and complex cases. Make clear, balanced calls using bank statements, processor data, bureau files, platform telemetry, and cash-flow signals.
  • Set and iterate credit strategy. Policy updates, and playbooks for US embedded programs; segment portfolios and provide threshold recommendations for initials vs renewals.
  • Partner with product, data, and sales. Translate risk insights into pricing changes, decisioning rules, and partner-specific policies without sacrificing CX.
  • Monitor the book. Build weekly views on approval quality, early-delinquency, renewal performance, and partner/channel mix; recommend tighten/loosen actions.
  • Raise underwriting quality. Coach underwriters, run case clinics, codify referral standards, and improve documentation and SLAs.
  • Automate and scale. Prototype in Excel/Power BI; productionize with SQL/Python for cohorts, PD bins, and rule performance; propose decision-system changes.
  • Be a clear referral point. Resolve escalations, align stakeholders, and communicate decisions to partners and customers when needed.
