Credit Risk Review Specialist II is responsible for advanced support of independent and objective evaluations of credit risk, credit controls, and credit administration across various lending portfolios. This role demonstrates increased independence in executing reviews, contributes to report preparation, and mentors entry level staff. Essential Functions/Responsibilities Independently conduct comprehensive reviews of assigned loan portfolios (commercial and retail). Contribute to the identification of credit weaknesses, emerging trends, or risk factors in reviewed loan portfolios. Provide advanced independent analysis of borrower financial statements, collateral quality, and loan structures as part of credit assessments. Evaluate risk rating practices and ensure proper grading of credits according to bank standards and regulatory guidance. Independently identify and investigate significant credit exceptions or risk issues, determining escalation needs and providing recommendations for remediation. Assist with department administrative duties and participate in required training programs. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal bank policies. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed to Perform Essential Functions of the Job 5-8 years previous banking-related experience (credit/loan review, underwriting, lending, problem loan/workout, loan operations/administration, or related areas). Intermediate knowledge of credit analysis, loan documentation, regulatory requirements, and risk assessment principles; ability to analyze more complex credits. Advanced language skills – ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business journals, financial reports, legal documents, and regulatory issuances. Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact with internal partners. Enhanced organizational and time management abilities with capability to manage multiple tasks under supervision. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Knowledge and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred. Level of Complexity and Scope Position with broad Organizational impact. Focus on straightforward review tasks with defined processes. Limited scope, working primarily under guidance. Degree of Independence and Decision-Making Demonstrates growing subject matter expertise and increased proficiency by performing moderately complex assignments with some variability. Works under general supervision, with guidance sought for more complex situations. Exercises independent judgment on routine matters; consults with senior staff for high-impact issues.
