Tennant is seeking a US Credit Manager to lead our worldwide credit risk strategy, credit policy and order approval process. This role owns customer credit assessment and portfolio risk management processes to optimize cash flow, minimize bad debt, and enhance customer experience. You will partner cross‑functionally with Sales, Shared Services, Legal, and Treasury, and manage a team covering the Americas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in credit management / accounts receivable, with 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial statement analysis, covenant assessment, and setting credit limits.
  • Hands‑on experience with ERP (e.g., SAP), credit bureaus/data providers (e.g., D&B, Experian), and collections platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX controls, and international trade terms (Incoterms, letters of credit).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills; ability to influence commercial decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Credit Policy & Governance Develop, implement, and maintain global credit policies, procedures, and controls consistent with U.S. GAAP and SOX requirements. Define credit limit frameworks, escalation thresholds, and approval matrices; ensure consistent application across regions. Establish risk segmentation (e.g., high/medium/low risk, strategic accounts) and appropriate mitigation strategies (guarantees, letters of credit, trade credit insurance).
  • Risk Assessment & Portfolio Management Conduct creditworthiness assessments using financial statements, bank/trade references, external agency data, and internal payment history. Own portfolio monitoring, early‑warning indicators, and risk dashboards; proactively adjust credit exposure based on macro or customer-specific signals. Maintain and optimize trade credit insurance programs (coverage, claims, compliance).
  • Order‑to-Cash Process & Systems Drive O2C process excellence: order release controls, billing accuracy, chargeback management, and write‑off governance. Champion ERP/CRM enhancements (e.g., SAP S/4HANA) and credit scoring automation tools. Implement KPI dashboards and reporting cadence for executive visibility.
  • Compliance & Controls Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP, SOX, and applicable international laws (sanctions/export controls, anti‑bribery/anticorruption). Maintain documentation and audit trails; support internal/external audits and control testing.
  • Leadership & Collaboration Build, coach, and scale a high‑performing global credit team (direct reports or regional leads). Facilitate cross‑regional best-practice sharing and continuous improvement initiatives (Lean/Six Sigma).
