About The Position

The Credit Analyst is responsible for gathering and analyzing credit information on current and potential borrowers; assists in determining the advisability of granting credit using a diverse suite of loan types; assists loan officers in writing loan requests; promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Credit Analysis Reviews credit request and assists lender as to the approval or denial of loan. Assist the lenders with determining the appropriate loan product to fit the customer’s needs. Periodically updates and reviews outstanding loan financial information as determined by conditions of the initial credit authorization and as appropriate. Updates financial tracking systems and collateral tracking systems, identifying outdated and missing items, and assisting lenders in requesting them from borrowers. Remains current on loan programs and lending regulations as well as compliance and bank policies and procedures. Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Participates in the preparation of bank reports specific to the Credit Department. Other Accountabilities and Responsibilities: Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job. Take part in community development through volunteer opportunities and/or board participation with non-profits and other community organizations. Participate in community service and bank-sponsored activities that serve and support the mission and values of Valley Bank. NOTE: Only minimum duties listed. Other responsibilities may be required as requested by Management.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent training or experience Business/Accounting prefeffered.
  • Advanced experience working with spread sheets, and reports.
  • Banking experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with bank’s savings and checking.
  • Has a complete working knowledge of the Valley Bank loan policy.
  • Knowledge of Valley Bank products/services.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of loan processes.
  • Work quickly and accurately.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise.
  • Typical office environment. Able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day.
