About The Position

As a Credentialed Chemical Dependency Counselor, you will support individuals on their recovery journey by managing a structured caseload and delivering high‑quality, person‑centered care. You’ll complete assessments, problem lists, treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, progress notes, discharge plans, and discharge summaries—ensuring each client receives comprehensive and continuous support. In this role, you’ll also actively participate in staffing meetings up to four times a week and engage in bi‑weekly supervision, presenting treatment plans and reviews for collaborative discussion and approval. Requirements

  • Minimum Required: Associate degree in applied science in Chemical Dependency or related field; OR two (2) years’ experience working in a chemical dependency setting.
  • Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC).

Responsibilities

  • Maintains all required documentation in accordance with OASAS regulations.
  • Utilizes Evidenced Based Counseling of Motivational Interviewing, DBT, and CBT in Group and Individual Sessions
  • Demonstrates ability to develop an individualized treatment plan that is based on identified problems from the Comprehensive Evaluation
  • Demonstrates ability to complete a thorough Comprehensive Evaluation, including identification of specific, individualized problems in each area that will be addressed on the patient’s treatment plan.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of medication assisted treatment, including dosing needs, withdrawal symptoms, over-sedation, medical issues / complications - including pregnancy issues, drug interactions, and other drugs of abuse.
  • Possesses clinical skills needed to conduct individual and group sessions.
  • Documents a patient’s progress towards meeting treatment plan goals in individual and group progress notes.
  • Adheres to all OASAS, Federal and HIPAA confidentiality requirements.
  • Participates in up to four times a week staffing’s, bi-weekly supervision, presenting problem patients, completed treatment plans and treatment plan reviews.
  • Maintains coordination of care with all outside providers, adhering to timeframe as stated on treatment plan.
