About The Position

The Global Creative Visualization (GCV) team at General Motors serves as the in-house creative engine responsible for generating imagery and experiences that introduce GM vehicles to the world. This team specializes in crafting high-end, marketing-quality, and public-ready visuals and motion by integrating CGI, photography, video, and advanced AI tools. Their work is designed to be both artistically inspiring and technically precise. GCV is involved throughout the entire vehicle development process, from initial sketches to public vehicle reveals, collaborating closely with design, engineering, and marketing teams. The team translates design visions into compelling content that supports internal decision-making and excites external customers. GCV develops content from concept to final mastering for both internal and external audiences, including exploratory design imagery, executive reviews, reveal campaigns, and social media content. The Creative Visualization Designer role requires applicants to submit a portfolio showcasing advanced, complex photorealistic animation, primarily utilizing CGI VFX pipelines, AI, and real-time/game engine pipelines. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to conceive, pitch, and deliver industry-leading animation projects. GCV CGI/Animation team members are expected to possess strong problem-solving skills, the capacity to effectively give and receive art direction, and meticulous attention to detail. Self-motivation and up-to-date knowledge of Animation/AI/VFX/Game Development pipelines, including the scoping and creation of high-quality assets with small teams, are essential.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative client relationships
  • Strength in visual storytelling and concept development
  • CGI generalist skills, able to operate effectively as both an individual contributor and as part of a team
  • Hands-on multi-pass compositing experience in a production environment
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality, photorealistic imagery
  • Ability to craft compelling edits with music, with a strong sense of pacing and narrative
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Film, Animation, Photography, or a related field
  • 3-5 years experience

Responsibilities

  • Delivering emotional, storytelling animation for Design needs both internally and for public use.
  • Creating and presenting pitches as well as implementing and executing to final, edited assets for use.
  • Quickly developing strong understanding of a specific vehicle’s representation working closely with production studios and Design leadership.
  • Ability to visually communicate feedback/direction through artistic execution.
  • SME for high quality Computer Generated Imagery.
  • Benchmarking industry best practice technique, hardware and software, effectively problem solving production challenges.
  • Project specific pipeline development enabling streamlined productions and on time deliveries.
  • Collaboration, Negotiation and problem solving with Brand studio partners.
  • Development of pilot projects, scenes and assets to communicate direction and receive feedback.
  • Working closely with Leads and Supervisors from other GCV Departments on collaborative projects (Photography/Video as well as Art Direction & Enhancement).
