About The Position

The Healthyhorns team is dedicated to fostering optimal health, recognizing its pivotal role in academic achievement. They provide comprehensive medical care, mental health services, and health promotion initiatives tailored to support and sustain well-being. This position will start in Fall 2026 with the possibility of continuing employment beyond the 2026-2027 academic year. There is 1 open position and it will be 100% in person at the SSB, working 15 hours per week. The purpose of the role is to collaborate with the Public Information Team (PIT) Creative Team to support a variety of university departments in creating graphic design materials that promote student health, wellness and accessibility. The associate will work closely with the communication coordinator and art director to design collateral that aligns with the Texas and Healthyhorns brands, while ensuring a student-centric perspective in all deliverables.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat etc.) with a strong portfolio demonstrating creative design and digital media experience.
  • Demonstrate a methodical approach to fulfilling projects, proactively identifying solutions and challenges, with a focus on intentional design and photography that expresses originality and innovation.
  • Accountable for owning projects from concept to completion. Demonstrate effective work habits, including strong time management, project organization and a commitment to ethical practices.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Engage in proactive communication and navigate project conversations in a positive, solution-oriented manner.
  • Must be a student at the University of Texas at Austin.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary creative team to provide graphic design support for key university departments, including Healthyhorns (University Health Services, Counseling and Mental Health Center, Longhorn Wellness Center), SHIFT, Center for Students in Recovery, Disability and Access, Disability Cultural Center and Longhorn TIES.
  • Collaborate with the communication coordinator and art director to produce high-quality collateral that complements the Texas and Healthyhorns brands across various media platforms, ensuring consistency in design, tone and messaging.
  • Conceptualize, design and create visually appealing, branded materials from a student perspective, including posters, flyers, digital content, social media graphics and other promotional materials.
  • Complete hands-on production work, ensuring all deliverables are print-ready and meet department standards. You may also be tasked with photography duties using a Canon DSLR to support marketing and promotional materials.
  • Produce design assets for department, division, university and UT system use, ensuring that all content meets deadlines and quality standards.
  • Utilize Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) to produce and edit high-quality designs and media content.

Benefits

  • All students start at $12.00 and receive a $0.50 increase at the start of each fall semester after completing one academic year working with Healthyhorns.
