About The Position

The Torchy's Taco legacy began in Austin, Texas in 2006 with an idea, a dedicated chef and a food trailer. Today, Torchy's Tacos operates across the country, all with the determination to deliver on our "Damn Good" food promise. The Creative Director is a visionary leader responsible for shaping, elevating, and protecting the brand's creative expression across all channels. This role oversees concept development, brand identity stewardship, content production, and the development of an in-house creative agency model that serves partners across the organization. The Creative Director leads a high-performing team of designers, writers, and content creators while managing resources, workflows, and budgets to deliver breakthrough work that drives business results.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in creative roles, including leadership positions within a brand, agency, or in-house creative team.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating concept development, brand identity leadership, and multi-channel content execution.
  • Expertise in visual design, storytelling, content strategy, and modern production methods.
  • Proven experience leading creative teams and managing complex timelines and budgets.
  • Deep understanding of trends in design, culture, content, and consumer behavior.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in restaurant and/or food marketing with an understanding of capturing craveable content.
  • Experience building or scaling an in-house creative team or agency model.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with strong cross-functional influencing abiltity.

Responsibilities

  • Creative Leadership & Concepting Lead BIG-IDEA concepting: You will lead the development of creative concepts for brand campaigns, promotions, product launches, and experiential initiatives.
  • Translate briefs into direction: You will turn strategic briefs into inspiring creative direction that brings the brand to life in fresh, relevant ways.
  • Champion boundary-pushing ideation: You will guide ideation sessions and encourage exploration that pushes creative boundaries while aligning to brand strategy.
  • Brand Identity Stewardship Uphold and evolve brand identity: You will establish, evolve, and safeguard the brand's visual identity, tone of voice, and overall creative standards.
  • Maintain brand guidelines: You will develop and update brand guidelines to ensure consistent application across all internal and external channels.
  • Partner across the business: You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the brand is represented with clarity, cohesion, and authenticity.
  • Creative Services Management Build creative operations: You will define the structure, processes, roles, and capabilities required to operate a fully functioning in-house creative team supported by a network of external partners.
  • Develop workflow systems: You will create intake, briefing, workflow, and prioritization systems that support creative needs across Marketing, Operations, HR, Culinary, Development, and other internal partners.
  • Foster a service-driven mindset: You will promote a high-quality, partnership-focused approach to create delivery.
  • Implement scalable tools: You will introduce tools, systems, and best practices that support efficient, predictable, high-output creative production.
  • Report on performance: You will measure and communicate the creative team's impact through performance metrics, project reporting, and quality standards.
  • Content Production Oversight Oversee end-to-end production: You will manage development of creative assets across digital, print, social, video, in-store, and experiential channels.
  • Oversee production operations: You will manage production timelines, budgets, vendor relationships, and quality control for all creative outputs.
  • Optimize content for channel and audience: You will ensure content is tailored to platform, audience, and objectives while meeting brand and quality standards.
  • Team Leadership & Management Develop a high-performing team: You will build, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team across design, copy, content, photography, video, and production.
  • Provide coaching and feedback: You will give regular feedback and development opportunities to elevate individual and team performance.
  • Cultivate creative culture: You will foster a collaborative, innovative, service-driven creative culture.
  • Scale resources strategically: You will build and manage a network of external resources to support specailized needs or increased volume.
  • Budget & Resource Management Oversee creative budgets: You will manage annual creative budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and responsible vendor spending.
  • Prioritize work effectively: You will prioritize projects and manage workflows to meet business needs while protecting creative excellence.
  • Evaluate internal vs. external resources: You will assess when to leverage internal talent versus agency or freelance partners and manage those relationships.
  • Additional Responsibilites You will perform additional duties as assigned.
