The crater is responsible for building crates to house coils and unit coolers during transportation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Layout, cut, and fabricate crates for coils and unit coolers. Read specifications and inspect the product to determine the size and shape of the container, materials to be used, and types of supports, braces to be used. Layout dimensions on material with a ruler, measuring tape. Saw materials to size. Assemble materials. Place product in the container. Bolt heavy pieces to the bottom of the container or skid. Wrap and pad product with excelsior, paper, or other packing material. Build crate around large or odd-shaped articles. Nail cover on the crate. Wrap and tighten metal bands around the crate. Attach identification labels or stencils containing such information as shipping destination, weight, and type of product contained on the crate. Repair broken crates. Count items to be packed to ensure compliance with shipping orders. Weigh-loaded crate. Move the container to the shipping area, and move lumber, paper, and other wrapping supplies to crating area. Sharpen saw blades. Check work and ensure quality. Contribute to team effort by working with others and accomplishing related functions as needed. Complete any task as assigned by the supervisor as needed. Comply with government regulations, laws, company policies, and company procedures. Work overtime as necessary. Attend work as required. Arrive for work on time. Charge time accurately in time and attendance system on the computer to ensure accurate labor distribution and payroll. Follow manufacturing instructions, work by oneself without constant supervision, be self-motivated, and complete job assignments on time. Care for tools and equipment. Advise maintenance of equipment that is not working properly. Clean work area as required.
