About The Position

The Staff Pad has partnered with a premier fine art logistics company to identify a skilled Crate Builder / Art Handler. This organization specializes in the handling, packing, and transportation of high-value decorative arts, fine art, and antiquities. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in carpentry and hands-on logistics who takes pride in precision, craftsmanship, and protecting valuable items. You will play a critical role in building custom crates, packing delicate objects, and supporting installations while maintaining the highest standards of safety and care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years of woodworking, carpentry, or crate-building experience
  • 3+ years of experience in art handling, packing, or installation
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety practices
  • Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to complete detailed paperwork and condition reporting accurately
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • Experience using logistics equipment such as pallet jacks, dollies, and hand trucks
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs regularly
  • Ability to push/pull up to 150 lbs using appropriate equipment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the workday

Nice To Haves

  • Background in logistics, warehousing, or moving services preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build custom crates to exact specifications for fine art and high-value items
  • Pack, handle, and prepare decorative arts, antiquities, and fine furniture for transport and storage
  • Ensure all items are packed securely to minimize risk of damage
  • Accurately complete condition reports and job-related paperwork
  • Label and document all crates and items correctly
  • Maintain and organize the crate shop, ensuring a clean and efficient workspace
  • Order and manage inventory of crating materials (lumber, supplies, etc.)
  • Assist with installation projects as needed
  • Train and support junior art handlers when required
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols
  • Must follow all company policies and safety procedures
  • Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company as an ambassador
  • Work collaboratively with team members across departments
  • Responsibilities may evolve based on business needs
