About The Position

A Craft Training Instructor position is available at Garney. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, hands-on training programs to develop the skills and knowledge of Field Craft professionals. This role provides instruction in craft-specific techniques, safety protocols, and industry best practices, while supporting the development of customized training curricula aligned with organizational, project, and community workforce needs.WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent – Required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in pipefitting, carpentry, pipe laying, cement masonry, or heavy equipment operating at a journeyman or technician level – Required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in digital tools and instructional technologies
  • Ability to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Commitment to promoting safe and environmentally responsible construction practices
  • Ability to drive truck with large trailer

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced certifications or degrees in a construction-related field – Preferred
  • Industry-recognized instructor certification (e.g., NCCER Instructor Certification) – Preferred
  • Prior experience in craft instruction or adult education – Preferred
  • Bilingual – Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct training sessions using industry-recognized curricula such as NCCER and internally developed curriculum
  • Teach technical skills, including blueprint reading, tool usage, and construction techniques
  • Integrate safety principles into all training programs to promote a safety-first culture
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess training needs and design custom curricula tailored to workforce requirements
  • Research and integrate current industry practices, trends, and technologies into training programs
  • Adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Manage training lab spaces, materials, tools, and equipment to ensure a seamless learning experience
  • Assess trainee performance through practical evaluations and provide constructive feedback
  • Maintain accurate records of trainee progress and certification achievements
  • Collaborate with jobsite management to coordinate training initiatives
  • Work closely with industry partners, managers, and training organizations to align programs with workforce needs
  • Engage with community and workforce development organizations to expand awareness of construction careers
