About The Position

We are hiring talented engineers for CPU Power Modeling for high performance, low power designs. In this role, you will be responsible for all key aspects of CPU power modeling, analysis and optimization of state-of-the-art CPUs that push the envelope on performance, energy efficiency, and scalability.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in CPU power modeling, analysis and optimization
  • Deep understanding of CPU low power design including expertise in active, Idle and low power minimization techniques
  • Experience in CPU power modeling and analysis of power/performance tradeoffs and TDP/battery life projections for common CPU workloads and benchmarks
  • Knowledge of logic design principles along with power and timing implications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
  • OR
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
  • OR
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in CPU power modeling and optimization
  • Strong knowledge of in-order/out-of-order CPU arch/uarch
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python) is highly preferred
  • Strong problem solving, organizational and communication skills, and ability to work in a dynamic and diverse environment

Responsibilities

  • Create comprehensive CPU power models including TDP skews, identify early power budgets/efficiency targets, analyze power/performance/process tradeoffs at various stages of design working with cross-discipline teams
  • Build accurate CPU power/perf models and tune projections for common workloads and benchmarks including SpecInt, Geekbench, DoU and Gaming
  • Analyze CPU power across workloads and identify pre/post-si opportunities to improve power efficiency collaborating with Perf, RTL, SW and SiVal teams
  • Analysis of complex HW throttling mechanisms to achieve peak CPU performance within EDP, thermal and peak current limits
  • Development of automation flows to enable efficient data collection pre- and post-silicon
