The Clackamas County Circuit Court is hiring a Criminal Courtroom Clerk (Courtroom Clerk). In this role… Much of your day will be spent preparing criminal dockets, scheduling criminal hearings and working in a courtroom; in the courtroom, you will maintain a docket, receive and enter pleadings, and create judgments based on the judge’s ruling. You are expected to provide direction and expertise in all areas of criminal case management, processing, and scheduling for the court. You will interact with both internal and external customers in person, via email and over the phone. You will assist judges, attorneys, and court staff with court policy and in using the court system. You will help the public with the status of their cases or to understand court procedures as it relates to criminal case types. You will process, review, and enter all criminal pleadings, including complex motions and orders, search warrants, sentencing judgments and probation violation judgment orders from court. You will also prioritize pleadings, process mail requests and work with judicial staff to resolve issues. Your workflow will include preparing correspondence and distributing pleadings, judgments, and hearings notices. Lastly, you will assist the Criminal Supervisor with the clerical management of various reports. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs. Requirements

  • The qualified candidate must have at least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents AND Possess a high school diploma or equivalent OR Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Criminal Case experience preferred but not required.

Benefits

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees [OR up to 99% of medical insurance premiums for part-time employees], including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $27.49 - $42.65. [OR The annual salary for this position is $57,183 - $88,708.]

  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job!
  • In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD up to the third step of the salary range, depending on experience.
  • You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.
