About The Position

As a Court Scout at InformData, you will support the accuracy and integrity of our background check services by researching and documenting court operations across multiple jurisdictions. This role involves visiting courthouses to observe and evaluate processes, understand workflow variations, and identify best practices. The Scout builds strong relationships with court personnel and communicates findings clearly across the organization. This position requires a high level of independence, flexibility, and professionalism, with extensive travel on a set schedule and occasional short notice trips to address operational needs. Comfort interacting with the public and court staff is essential, as is a strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Requirements

  • Working knowledge of court systems, legal processes, or courthouse operations through professional or academic experience.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, including overnight and multi day trips.
  • Proven ability to work independently while managing a dynamic schedule.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Professional, discreet, and comfortable interacting with court personnel and external stakeholders.
  • Experience assessing workflows, identifying process improvements, and documenting procedures or standard operating practices.
  • Comfortable using data and reporting tools.
  • Basic understanding of data structures and process workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with courts, government agencies, legal organizations, or courthouse research preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel intermediate or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Travel independently to courthouses nationwide to conduct onsite visits, observations, and interviews to gain a deep understanding of court operations, workflows, and record access procedures.
  • Observe, document, and evaluate court processes including case filing systems, record retrieval methods, public access policies, and jurisdiction specific requirements.
  • Compile clear, detailed reports outlining court procedures, required documentation, timelines, and any specialized forms needed to obtain records.
  • Analyze findings to identify best practices, trends, inefficiencies, and potential bottlenecks that may impact background check operations.
  • Develop practical, actionable recommendations to improve data collection processes and operational efficiency.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders through written reports, presentations, training, and ongoing collaboration.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with judges, clerks, administrators, and other court personnel to support effective information gathering and long-term collaboration.
  • Monitor changes in court processes, personnel, or technology by revisiting locations as needed and ensuring internal documentation remains accurate and up to date.
  • Provide guidance, insights, and training to team members based on research findings to improve overall team knowledge and performance.
  • Respond to urgent or time sensitive requests from courts or internal teams as needed.
  • Utilize technology tools such as mobile applications, cloud based reporting platforms, and data management systems to document, store, and share findings.
  • Maintain accurate travel records and comply with scheduling, reporting, expense, and compliance policies.
  • Represent the organization professionally in all courthouse interactions and external communications.
