The Washington County Circuit Court in Hillsboro, Oregon, is hiring a Court Operations Specialist to support The Honorable Judge Oscar Garcia at the Washington County Law Enforcement Center. In this role, you will prepare the courtroom and staff multiple daily dockets. When court is in session, you will operate and monitor the digital recording equipment, complete log notes, and fill out forms, orders, and judgments. You will verify that pleadings submitted to the court are accurate and complete, research the status of cases, and enter orders into the record. You will provide reception for the courtroom, distribute copies of documents, and watch for security concerns as needed. You will also schedule and facilitate remote hearings. In chambers, you will perform data entry, maintain multiple calendars, arrange for the return or disposal of exhibits, prepare orders, and proofread and distribute correspondence. You will also help track cases and documents, manage the assigned caseload, and receive and deliver mail, documents, and supplies. As the main point of contact for the office, you will answer customers’ questions about pending motions, outstanding rulings, and scheduled hearings, and you will prevent ex parte contact with the judge. The support you provide will be in person, over the phone, and through email. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs. This position works as part of a team and is expected to work with other judges and their staff to accommodate staffing requirements as needed.

Requirements

  • The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years of responsible administrative experience in a moderately complex office or business setting demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for this position.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a courtroom or in legal administration is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is preferred.
