About The Position

Hennepin County District Court invites qualified applicants for the Court Operations Manager I position, overseeing the daily operations of Jury, Scheduling, and Interpreter Services. In this role, you'll provide leadership and operational oversight for a team of 17 staff members, including 2 supervisors, 2 lead workers, 4 calendar clerks, 3 court operations associates, and 8 staff interpreters.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of experience in a court/legal environment, or other fast-paced, high-volume, and technology-dependent environment
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Access to a reliable internet connection is required when working remotely
  • Considerable knowledge of effective supervisory and management techniques.
  • Skill to effectively communicate thoughts, ideas, and messages to diverse individuals in oral and written form. Exceptional communication skills, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence.
  • Skill in managing employee performance and in providing constructive, positive and corrective feedback.
  • Skill in project management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or work streams simultaneously and ensure that work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with judicial officers, justice partners, colleagues, staff and the public.
  • Effective conflict resolution, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and make decisions efficiently and effectively.

  • General understanding of principles and practices of court proceedings, applicable statutes and rules and record management.
  • Experience supervising a team that provides support services to top leaders, professional staff, and/or elected officials.
  • Understanding on MNCIS functionality, calendaring, and report interpretation. Experience developing reporting systems and analyzing data.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and guidance to supervisors regarding prioritization of work and the hiring, training, and coaching of team members.
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive work environment that encourages collaboration and builds trust and respect.
  • Collaborate with judicial officers, justice agency partners, and other court divisions to build trust, increase efficiencies and ensure the fair and timely processing of court cases.
  • Interpret statutes, rules, and orders; develop, recommend, and oversee the implementation of new policies, business practices and procedures to comply with current statutes and regulations.
  • Monitor the use of resources, such as juror time and interpreter assignment; provide guidance to the bench regarding most effective use of jury, scheduling, and interpreter services.
  • Monitor key divisional performance measures; assess processes; coordinate with internal and external partners to improve or develop procedures and processes.
  • Oversee projects as they relate to new technology initiatives, workload management, change management or other division priorities.
  • Represent Fourth District Jury, Scheduling, and Interpreter services in interactions with other district courts and State Court Administration regarding the development of new procedures and processes or special projects.
