About The Position

The Fourth Judicial District is pleased to accept applications for a Court Operations Supervisor for the Court Reporter Unit (CRU).
The Court Operations Supervisor will work closely with the Court Reporter Unit Manager to provide division oversight, consistent leadership and expectations, and supervisory coverage. This position will primarily be responsible for supervising Court Reporters and overseeing district wide scheduling of the Court Reporter Unit.

The Court Reporter Unit is located on the 8th floor of the Hennepin County Government Center, in downtown Minneapolis. However, some travel within Hennepin County is required. Hours for this position are generally 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday; supervisors are expected to be flexible according to business needs. This position is currently working both remotely and in-person so access to reliable internet is required.

Requirements

• Graduation from an approved high school or equivalent
• 3 to 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience in a court or legal setting, or other supervisory experience in a fast-pace, high-volume, and technology-driven environment.
• Must become certified as an Electronic Recording Equipment Operator (EREO) within one year of hire
• Ability to work in an inclusive, multicultural environment that values diversity and relationships

• Demonstrated experience developing, managing, and adjusting complex schedules in a fast-paced or high-volume environment
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment when responding to last-minute changes or staffing challenges
• Strong understanding of operational workflows and the ability to balance competing priorities, deadlines, and staffing needs
• Experience using scheduling software, case management systems, or other workforce management tools
• Proven ability to analyze workload data, trends, and coverage needs to support efficient staffing decisions
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with leadership, staff, and stakeholders
• Experience coaching, mentoring, and providing performance feedback to staff
• Experience working in a court system, government agency, or other highly regulated environment

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, supervise and review the functions and daily operations of a team of court reporters in the Court Reporter Unit and establish clear expectations, workloads and schedules to meet division goals and ensure efficiency
• Select, coach, mentor, develop, and evaluate the performance of staff according to set standards; ensure timely completion and maintain accurate performance and time-keeping records; and act as an effective role model to staff in all areas
• Collaborate with supervisors and managers to develop, recommend, and implement new policies and procedures to comply with current rules, regulations, and statutes as they pertain to the division; simplify work processes so that the division operates more efficiently
• Oversee the scheduling of court reporters and all district court hearings
• Provide backup supervisory coverage as needed in the areas of scheduling and technical operations to ensure business needs are efficiently met
• Participate in district and/or statewide leadership groups
