About The Position

Bank and Cash Transactions Bank records, deposits and currency exchanges shall be placed in a sealed bank envelope and verified at pickup, delivery to bank and when returned. Bank sealed deposit envelopes shall be placed in a non-script container for transportation to and from banks. Containers containing cash, checks, etc shall not be left unattended during transportation. Confidentiality Understands that all packets, conversations and cargo are to be keep confidential and not discussed without manager's prior approval... Bank deposit times should only be shared with Accounting and NGH Managers and Directors. Sealed items will not be opened by the courier, if the item cannot be delivered to the designated person or department, the courier will return to the originator. If during transportation a package becomes damaged and/or opened it shall be reported to the originator and MM Director immediately. Customer Service Displays courtesy and respect to all customers (visitors, coworkers, other departments). Is attentive to the needs of others. Apologizes for delays in service. Daily Route Confirm operation of courier cell phone, check voice mail and as needed returns calls with NGH staff in a courteous manner. Uses proper telephone and customer services etiquette when communicating with internal and external customers. Manages pickup and deliveries to assure that items get to the proper person or place as needed and/or scheduled. Obtains and returns required signatures when appropriate. Is knowledgeable of and practices appropriate quickest and most efficient routes. Communicates with Materials Management any problems and/or changes to established route. Communicates with each hospital department regarding requested special pickup/delivery of packets and employees, keeping them informed of any delays or changes. Equipment and Supplies Correctly uses and maintains equipment and supplies needed for daily functions. All equipment and supplies will be transported to protect the items from damage or loss. Lab Runs Lab specimens must be kept in the Lab Specimen transport container and out of direct sunlight at all times during transportation. Under no circumstances shall a lab specimen container be opened by the courier. Twice a day specimens and/or reports will be delivered and picked up from TBI and retuned to NGH Lab. While at TBI courier will sign in and out as appropriate. Performance Improvement Courier will review route, tasks and incoming calls for improvements and reliability. Courier will not operate or use phone while operating vehicle. Courier will pull over and stop vehicle in a safe place before retuning incoming calls. All assigned tasks shall be completed daily. Vehicle Maintenance Courier will maintain a clean and litter free vehicle. Courier will schedule maintenance and repairs as necessary to maintain the vehicle in proper operating condition. Courier will schedule with NGH Administration the backup vehicle whenever necessary due to repairs or maintenance on the courier vehicle. Any damage to vehicle will be report to Director of Materials Management as soon as possible. Courier will obey all Tennessee Department of Transportation laws.
