We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Counter Manager to lead our food service team and ensure an exceptional experience for our guests. MERCHANDISING Maximize sales potential through actively participating and collaborating with Marketing Department to plan, execute and maintain attractive, fully stocked, rotated and faced product sections (bins, coolers and shelves). Responsible for ensuring the accurate labeling of products with shelf tags, price stickers and/or signs. Record items at risk of not selling in a timely fashion and engage Food Service Manager to discuss strategies needed to reduce losses. Provide product information from vendors to customers and staff. DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE Demonstrate and promote use of good judgment in determining inventory that is not moving, overstocked or in danger of going out of code. Ensure that unsellable items are returned or otherwise properly disposed of, following established procedures. Keep accurate shrinkage records. Ensure that front of the house and counter areas (cases, shelves, dining, refrigeration and storage areas) are maintained in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards. Ensure that waste disposal and recycling procedures are practiced within established guidelines. Ensure that seasonal and cyclical preventative maintenance for equipment is followed within established guidelines. Maintain department equipment in working order. Monitor cooler and freezer temperatures (where applicable) and follow established procedures for handling breakdowns. Follow security procedures. Alert MOD or General Manager to potential shoplifters, disorderly customers and other emergencies. Work with other departments as needed to create necessary programs that will support and grow the Food Service Department. Set the highest standards in quality for products sold and ensure that best practices for culling, storage and display are met. PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT Assist in hiring qualified applicants following established policy. Ensure on-the-job training offered in various methods to meet all learning styles. Participate in developing and maintaining counter service training systems; maintain and update training information. Assist in performance evaluations using established counter service employee objectives and goals in line with department and store objectives. Make recommendations for counter staff pay raises within department budget and store pay scale. Address complaints and resolve problems within the front of the house staff; issues that cannot be resolved should be referred to the Food Service Manager. Take disciplinary action as needed following established policies. Organize department meetings on a regular and ongoing basis. Keep all notes regarding staff meetings in an assigned place. Ensure counter staff are informed of storewide meetings and policy changes. Set work priorities for counter service staff. Ensure opening/closing checklist duties are assigned and covered. Create and publish a counter service staff schedule to achieve proper coverage within the department’s payroll allocation. Review time clock records to assure compliance with set schedules. Ensure prompt, friendly, helpful customer service by department staff. Establish and maintain a positive work environment that supports high department morale. Set an example as a mature and productive team leader GENERAL MANAGEMENT Participate in and observe guidelines of the Provender’s operating budget. Know and enforce the company’s policies and procedures. Review financial reports of counter/ front of the house performance with accounting manager and recommend corrective action as needed. Perform Manager on Duty (MOD) shifts as assigned. Ensure that adequate staffing is in place daily to run the department operations efficiently. Actively participate in matrixed relationships to ensure the store’s goals and objectives are met.
