About The Position

The food service counter attendant provides guests with efficient food service by maintaining attractively merchandised displays and an abundant level of inventory in the grab and go areas. Responsible for maintaining proper temperatures in coolers, as well as proper safety, sanitation and food handling standards. QUALITY ASSURANCE Must have the ability to examine products for quality and freshness and have working knowledge of the particular food products. Ensure proper handling and storage of food, per specific product requirement. Provide suggestions to the Counter Lead or Manager regarding quality and handling of department merchandise. Check deliveries for damage, quality and accuracy, and note discrepancies on invoice as needed. Responsible for receiving own orders for quality control. Uphold best practices for culling, storage and display of all products. MERCHANDISING Maintain attractive, fully stocked, rotated and faced sections. Stock as needed. Ensure accurate, up-to-date price labeling (or shelf tags) for department items. Determine daily sampling opportunities and display with proper signage; accurately record samples and waste in correct format on the correct logs. DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE Ensure counter and food storage areas are maintained in a sanitary, orderly condition, meeting food service department standards. Adhere to safe food handling procedures at the counter, walk-in, and waste management areas. When necessary, monitor and record refrigerator and food product temperatures to ensure safe food storage guidelines are met. Ensure that ingredients are dated, stocked, and rotated accurately. Remove all out-of-date items, recording their disposal, and alerting the food service manager. Ensure that unsellable items are properly disposed of. Keep accurate shrinkage records. Maintain equipment in working order by following guidelines as taught in training. Report and recommend equipment repair or replacement to the Food Service Manager. Assist in receiving goods for the department when necessary, following direction of supervisor. Complete daily re-stock (downstairs list) according to guidelines taught in training period. Responsible for performing opening and closing procedures as assigned.
