About The Position

The Counselor is responsible for assessing family needs and providing evidence-based individual and family psychotherapy services for families referred to the HRT FAST program. Services are structured, goal-oriented, and designed to strengthen family relationships, improve communication, and enhance family members’ ability to support the juvenile’s treatment progress. This position provides therapeutic services in home, community, and office settings, with approximately 50% travel throughout the assigned county.

Requirements

  • Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, or related field
  • Knowledge in providing therapeutic or non-therapeutic treatment services to the child welfare population
  • Knowledge of Arizona’s foster care system
  • Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Strong knowledge of company operations, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to instruct clients in child development, home management, personal problem solving, accessing community services, domestic violence supports, appropriate discipline and childcare techniques, and age-appropriate parenting skills

Responsibilities

  • Conduct therapeutic visits in individual, family, group, and multi-family group sessions
  • Strengthen family relationships by improving communication and increasing family support of treatment goals
  • Review and implement service treatment plans addressing the client’s current level of functioning and update as necessary
  • Provide structured, time-limited sessions working toward mutually defined treatment goals
  • Assist in identifying and utilizing community resources, natural supports, and aftercare services
  • Maintain regular contact with families and team members as needed
  • Complete required reports and documentation in a timely manner and notify case management of problematic situations
  • Document attendance, participation level, and comprehension of activities on the same day of service delivery
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to linguistic, cultural, social, economic, individual, and role differences
  • Attend and provide reports during Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings as requested
  • Maintain and submit monthly mileage documentation to the Program Supervisor
  • Complete a minimum of 24 hours of job-related training annually
  • Attend all program meetings, in-service trainings, and maintain regular team communication
  • Participate in a minimum of 4 hours of supervision per month, including 1 hour of individual clinical supervision and at least 3 hours of group supervision
  • Ensure the safety, health, and welfare of staff and families at all times
  • Model program norms and act as a positive role model and mentor
  • Treat others with respect, address negative behavior appropriately, and support constructive confrontation
