Job Summary Provides assessment, treatment planning, individual, family and group counseling for patients admitted to the Behavioral Health Services Counseling Center. Specializes in work with adults, adolescents, children and families experiencing mental health/substance abuse problems. Essential Functions All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Responsible for responding to phone calls from patients, physicians or other referral sources, requesting counseling services. Responsible for accurately completing Clinical Risk Assessment Tool, to determine level of care for patient. Responsible for providing the most appropriate therapy, specific to patient’s symptoms. Responsible for developing individualized patient treatment plan, delineating problems identified in assessment. Specific goals and objectives are to be formulated with measurable outcomes for each problem identified. Responsible for appropriately terminating therapeutic relationship and making referrals for any continuing care that may be necessary for patient to maintain stable mental health. Responsible for being on Psychiatric Emergency Team (PET) and providing services to the Emergency Room and consultations to medical floors. Responsible for maintaining ongoing communication with low intensive and highly intensive patients during course of treatment in the overall continuum of care per protocol for care management responsibilities. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management Responsibilities This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field of study.
  • Two (2) years of experience in direct patient services
  • Credentialed/licensed in relevant area of training in SC.
  • A valid driver’s license; an acceptable motor vehicle record, as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart; and proof of auto insurance.
  • Group and individual therapy skills
  • Psychiatric problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to evaluate patient’s clinical condition
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to treat patients of all ages.
