Requirements

  • The ability to acquire Chemical Dependency Counselor I or QAP equivalent certification within 3 years of date of hire
  • Ability to pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check (no felony charges)
  • Ability to: Build rapport with clients and staff
  • Utilize tools such as DSM 5 and ASAM with clients
  • Establish and maintain clear therapeutic boundaries
  • Work as a team member including accepting and providing supervision
  • Work independently while self-directing daily productivity
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • Punctuality reporting to work and in delivery of direct services
  • Basic computer skills including internet navigation and fluid use of electronic communication tools

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or closely related field
  • Experience in substance abuse or mental health field including: Delivering direct therapeutic services Direct service documentation Crisis intervention skills Peer Support or Case Management planning and clinical team participation

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating care across criminal justice and SUD health systems utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach
  • Provide Substance Use Disorder assessments utilizing DSM-V and ASAM best practices
  • Support clients as they find and engage in the assessed treatment
  • Identify and provide referrals that address any barriers to successful re-entry, including:
  • Coordination of public assistance benefits as appropriate
  • Coordination of safe, sober housing
  • Help with job readiness and seeking employment
