About The Position

Challenge to Excellence Charter School, a high performing, premiere STEAM school in Douglas County, is looking for a full-time K-8th Grade Counselor for the 2026-2027 school year. Challenge to Excellence is an academically advanced charter school that specializes in STEAM education. The successful candidate will be responsible for advancing the mission and vision of the school through: ● Design and implementation of a school guidance curriculum. ● Providing individual student planning, responsive services, and systems support. ● Working collaboratively with school staff, parents, and the community to create a caring and supportive climate where students can achieve academic success. ● Understanding the unique and diverse personal and developmental challenges that impact the academic achievement of elementary and middle school students. ● Developing and promoting positive community relations among various school and community stakeholders. ● Aligning the counseling program with school goals. ● Counseling students to encourage and support academic achievement through classroom lessons, small groups, and individual sessions. ● Counseling students regarding educational issues such as course and program election, school adjustment, truancy, study habits, and career planning. ● Using assessment data to measure student learning and academic growth and analyzing results to inform counseling decisions. ● Participating in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills. ● Assisting in coordinating district, state, and/or secondary testing programs. ● Maintaining community partnerships to support students and their families. ● Demonstrating age-appropriate counseling practices that address academic, career, and personal/social needs. ● Using available technology resources to enhance the school counseling program and practice. ● Managing a counseling program to support academic achievement, career planning, and personal/social development. ● Encouraging two-way communication to enhance and promote the school counseling program. ● Supporting students in the successful transition from each grade level to the next phase. ● Working collaboratively within the school environment and with appropriate stakeholders to advance the goals of the Counseling Program. ● Counseling individuals to help them understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their educational experience. ● Referring and connecting students to appropriate resources to enhance learning and personal development. ● Providing information to students and parents regarding academic progress, counseling programs, community resources, and related services. ● Managing, evaluating, and coordinating 504 plans. ● Performing other related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Colorado Initial or Professional Colorado Special Service Provider License - School Counseling
  • Master’s Degree: Counseling

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years or more school counseling experience, preferably in Elementary and/or Middle School
  • Experience with Infinite Campus and Google products.

Responsibilities

  • Customize counseling services to meet individual student and school needs.
  • Counsel individuals to help them understand and overcome personal, social or behavioral problems affecting their education.
  • Manage a counseling program in order to encourage and support academic achievement and personal/social development.
  • Support students in the successful transition from each grade level into the next phase.
  • Maintain community partnerships to support students and their families.
  • Use available technology resources to enhance the school counseling practice and program.
  • Assist in coordinating district and state testing programs.

  • Deliver counseling services through classroom guidance lessons, small groups and individual counseling.
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Align the counseling program to school goals (School Improvement Plan).
  • Use assessment data to measure student learning and academic growth and analyze results in planning counseling decisions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Provide information to students and parents regarding academic progress, counseling programs, community resources, etc.
  • Work collaboratively within the school environment and with appropriate stakeholders to advance the goals of the Counseling Program.
  • Refer and connect students to appropriate resources to enhance learning and development.
  • Document health related services in designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program as assigned.
  • Encourage two-way communication to enhance and promote the school counseling program.
