Primary Responsibilities: Provides legal support to multiple business units, including underwriting, claims, product and insurance operations teams. Provides day-to-day legal counsel on a wide range of business and insurance matters, including insurance products, programs, forms, endorsements, advertising / marketing and operational processes and procedures. Provides legal guidance on customer service issues, including legal review of business unit responses to consumer complaints and regulatory inquiries. Provides compliance guidance and interprets complex federal and state laws to support business initiatives. Knowledge & Requirements: Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school and current member of the Indiana bar. 1-3 years Insurance law, legal practice, compliance department, or industry experience. Comfortable building and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels across the organization and taking responsibility for assigned matters. Proactive and reliable self-starter, capable of working both independently without direct supervision and cooperatively as part of a broader team. Demonstrated strong verbal communication, time management, and organizational skills. Excellent legal writing, research, and presentation skills, with an ability to explain complex information to non-lawyers. Sound judgment, a high degree of professionalism, and an ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, shifting priorities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously, with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
