The Counsel role supports the Head of Legal by providing legal advice and hands-on support related to contract review and negotiation, dispute and litigation management, and general legal guidance for projects in execution. This role works closely with project executives, risk management, and prequalification teams to proactively identify and mitigate legal risk while promoting compliance with applicable laws. The Counsel position requires strong foundational skills in contract drafting and review, dispute support, risk awareness, and clear communication, along with the ability to provide timely and accurate legal advice under supervision and to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Proactive, self-starter with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice in or willing to become licensed in applicable jurisdiction(s).
  • 2-8 years of experience
  • Experience in construction law and contract review

Responsibilities

  • Drafts, reviews, and revises standard contracts with supervision.
  • Participates in litigation and dispute management.
  • Supports contract negotiations, escalates non-standard risk.
  • Provides timely and accurate legal advice with supervision, including regarding projects in execution to proactively mitigate risk and promote compliance with applicable law.
  • Proactively addresses potential litigation, claims and disputes, including through proactively reviewing with project management, risk department and others.
  • Drafts correspondence and standard settlement agreements with supervision.
  • Supports on developing strategy and selecting and managing outside counsel.
