About The Position

We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and highly organized lawyer to join Blizzard Entertainment’s in-house legal team. This role will provide legal support to various teams across different business functions. This role will be hybrid in-office based out of Blizzard’s Irvine, California headquarters, and will report to a Sr. Director of Legal.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate and admission to California State Bar in good standing or admission to another State Bar and willingness and qualifications to be “Registered In-House Counsel”
  • 2-4+ years of experience as a practicing lawyer at a reputable law firm or suitable in-house position
  • Experience and knowledge in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, preferably focused on entertainment, technology, or intellectual property
  • Ability to understand Blizzard’s games, business, and strategy and apply it to proactively manage legal risks and find creative solutions
  • A willingness to learn new skills and tackle new challenges
  • Strategic and creative thinking, exercising excellent, balanced, and practical business judgment
  • Outstanding written and oral communication, with the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues across the business
  • Team player and ability to independently handle multiple, diverse projects simultaneously and under deadlines
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic industry where there is ambiguity and flex in the business and legal environment
  • Strong ethics, collaboration, and influencing skills

  • Experience as a legal professional in a video game, entertainment, or media company

Responsibilities

  • Review, negotiate, and draft a wide variety of commercial agreements, including IP licenses, content development agreements, promotional and marketing agreements, talent agreements, software and technology licenses, and professional services agreements
  • Review advertising and marketing claims and clear promotional materials, including promotional videos, static advertising assets, and websites
  • Work closely with various legal and business partners across Blizzard, including product development, marketing, communications, and platform teams
  • Counsel on a wide variety of legal matters touching the video game business, including monetization, marketing and promotions, talent, product integrations, software licensing, and music licensing
  • Collaborate with international legal colleagues to provide global guidance on diverse legal issues
