Essential Job Duties: · Serve as primary legal point of contact for one of several domestic onshore oil and gas business units within Oxy. · Advise on all aspects of domestic oil and gas operations, including: · Contract drafting, negotiation, and interpretation – oil and gas leases (particularly royalty, pooling, continuous development, and retained acreage provisions), production sharing agreements, joint operating agreements, development agreements, farm-in/farm-out agreements, acreage exchange agreements, data trade agreements, surface use agreements, easements, title curative documents, AMIs, and preferential rights to purchase. · Handling pre-litigation claims relating to oil and gas operations. · Supporting legal due diligence on acquisitions and divestitures. · Responsible for providing accurate, concise, highly responsive legal advice in a professional manner to a diverse, cross-functional group of internal clients, including: Land, Regulatory, Compliance, Low Carbon Ventures, Revenue Accounting, and Business Development. · Possess and maintain subject matter expertise on essential laws and regulations affecting oil and gas operations, particularly within Texas and New Mexico. · Maintain and update standard form contracts and conduct internal training workshops regarding such standard form contracts.
