About The Position

The Provo City Council is looking for an intern to assist the Executive Director and the Council in a variety of assignments and administrative projects. The internship will begin in May 2026.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program related to political science, public administration, planning, or another related field.
  • Must have strong analytical and writing skills.
  • Ability to conduct research.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Valid, lawful driver license is required at time of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Providing support to the Municipal Council with responsibilities for legislation, appropriations, and oversight.
  • Providing policy analysis covering a wide variety of City programs, projects, and budgets.
  • Making recommendations and assisting in designing new programs or processes.
  • Maintaining required records.
  • Receiving and reviewing requests.
  • Assisting in and performing basic and general research and analysis with general direction to acquire specialized knowledge.
  • Refining information for presentations.
  • Conducting and attending meetings.
  • Writing and submitting various reports.
  • Collecting and analyzing data.
  • Communicating findings.
  • Evaluating programs and policies.
  • Reviewing budgets.
  • Drafting reports, policies, and legislation.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
