About The Position

SSM Health Day Institute is seeking a COTA to work in our specialized outpatient rehabilitation program. We have ten centers across the St. Louis Metro area serving individuals recovering from a traumatic injury or illness who no longer require 24-hour nursing or acute rehabilitative care. Requirements

  • Education: Associate's Degree in an OT Assistant program required
  • Current and valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) required
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Current State Driver’s License in good standing required: Acquisition of a Class E license allowing for the operation of the bus

Nice To Haves

  • CPR certification
  • First aid certification
  • Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy center

Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of licensed OT, assists with the implementation of therapy plan of care in the Day Room Setting
  • Responsible for delegation an direction of support personnel for those assigned patients, in order to enhance patient care services in the Day Room Setting
  • Participates in education of patients, families, coworkers, and self
  • Performs other professional duties associated with the care of the patient, within the scope of practice
  • Assists patients to/from mats, wheelchairs, other equipment as appropriate; assist patients with transfer activities
  • Assists with patient-related treatment activities as appropriate
  • Engages with patients, supporting therapeutic goals in individual and group settings; Task initiation and group facilitation
  • Documentation and billing/charging of skilled activities as applicable
  • Upgrading and downgrading tasks for patient engagement
  • Plans and transports for Community Reintegration Outings
  • Maintains the clinic and clinic equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Transports patients to /from therapy as needed
