About The Position

Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Berkshires, is seeking a Costume Shop Supervisor to join our team in Pittsfield, MA. The Costume Shop Supervisor oversees all shop operations, managing staff, budgets, and schedules to realize the artistic vision of world-class designers while ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

Requirements

Advanced knowledge of garment construction, tailoring, and costume history.
Proven experience managing a shop team and complex production schedules.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite for budget and documentation management.
Must be comfortable working with students and volunteers.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and move large costume racks/containers.
Reliable transportation and/or a valid driver’s license are required

Responsibilities

Manage costume shop staff, daily operations, and departmental labor for all 2026 productions and events.
Collaborate with designers to determine construction, alteration, and rental needs within budget.
Coordinate with Stage Management to schedule all costume fittings.
Provide Production Management with accurate cost estimates and timely expenditure reports.
Oversee the maintenance of the "costume bible" and archival documentation for each show.
Coordinate load-ins and load-outs in collaboration with Wardrobe and Wig Supervisors.
Other duties as assigned by Production Management.
