About The Position

The Assistant Costume Shop Supervisor provides administrative and organizational support to the Supervisor, focusing on research, stock coordination, and maintaining production documentation.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of costume construction, history, and shop equipment.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable transportation and/or a valid driver’s license are required.
• Must be comfortable working with students and volunteers.
• Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Research costume availability from regional theaters and rental houses.
• Assist designers in pulling costumes from stock for fittings and rehearsals.
• Maintain the "costume bible" including photos, fabric swatches, and dye formulas.
• Manage returns of unused garments to vendors and restock borrowed/rented items.
• Assist in the construction of costumes and accessories as needed to meet deadlines.
• Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the shop and storage areas.
• Other duties as assigned.
