The Costume Shop Apprentice is a part of Steppenwolf’s Workforce Development Programs. This is a temporary full-time position that will begin on August 27th 2026 and continue through May 31st, 2027. Specific responsibilities will include: The costume shop apprentice receives a practical overview of the administration of costumes in theatre. Tasks include but are not limited to; organization of research and shop paperwork, pulling and shopping costume pieces and accessories, tracking and organization of costumes throughout the production process. There are also opportunities to shadow costume staff and participate in costume alterations and crafts projects. This position is perfect for applicants interested in learning about the day-to-day functions of a professional theatre’s costume department. This apprentice works closely with the Costume Director and Associate Costume Director. This position is specifically catered for those interested in the administrative aspects of the costume industry.
