This is an on-site position at our office in Elkhorn, WI. This is not a hybrid or fully remote role. The schedule for this role is typically Monday - Friday (first shift), with some flexibility to work early or late, depending on the workload. The pay for this role is based on years of relevant experience. We are searching for a Cost Accountant to join our finance team. As a Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for analyzing, tracking, and reporting costs associated with Adams’ projects and operations. This role ensures accurate job costing, supports budgeting and forecasting, and provides actionable insights to improve profitability and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate has experience in the construction industry and understands the complexities of multi-trade projects, labor allocation, and material cost management.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience in the construction industry or specifically with job costing project work.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
Strong knowledge of job costing, budgeting, and variance analysis.
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and stakeholders required.
Ability to anticipate challenges, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions under pressure required.

Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and timely cost records for all projects and service lines.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Provide transparent reporting to leadership and auditors.
Safeguard sensitive financial data and uphold confidentiality standards.
Collaborate with project managers, operations, and procurement teams to gather cost data.
Provide training and guidance on job costing processes to internal stakeholders.
Communicate clearly and effectively with non-financial team members.
Support a culture of accountability and financial literacy across departments.
Work closely with operations and sales teams to align cost analysis with pricing strategies.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to validate material costs and identify savings opportunities.
Assist leadership in evaluating the financial impact of strategic initiatives.
Support cross-functional projects requiring cost analysis and reporting
Approach challenges with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
Adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrate attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.

Support compliance with tax regulations and internal audit requirements.
