About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Cost Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs associated with business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. You will analyze changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to assess their impact on cost. Your expertise will be vital in preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs and providing management with insights on factors affecting prices and profitability.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of financial analysis or cost accounting experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing inventory accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and queries.
  • Experience managing projects and processes.
  • Understanding of ERP systems and budget management.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to determine effects on cost.
  • Prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
  • Analyze audits of costs and prepare reports.
  • Estimate costs of new and proposed products.
  • Prepare quotations for large projects and analyze post-project costs.
  • Provide management with reports specifying factors affecting product prices and profitability.
  • Maintain the Cost Accounting System.
  • Assist with inventory valuation and reporting, including physical inventory and cycle count programs.
  • Conduct excess and obsolescence analysis.
  • Assist with month-end close of the General Ledger.
  • Develop and maintain a standardized reporting database for internal performance reporting.
  • Prepare internal and external monthly performance review charts.
  • Reconcile finished goods inventories.
  • Compile project costs and analyze variances.
  • Travel to manufacturing facilities as needed.
  • Collaborate with various departments such as Engineers, Sales, and Purchasing.
