About The Position

Cost Accountant Job Purpose: Responsible for performing intermediate-level accounting activities related to cost analysis, reporting, and compliance. This role supports accurate financial reporting, assists in budgeting and forecasting, and ensures adherence to company policies and accounting standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Level I: Entry level - 0-3 years accounting finance experience required.
  • Level II: Relevant accounting or finance experience, typically 3+ years, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with exposure to cost or operational accounting concepts in manufacturing or other comparable business environments.
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Cost accounting principles and practices
  • ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Process improvement mindset

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze cost reports, variance analyses, and financial statements to support business decisions.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Support the development of budgets and forecasts by providing cost-related data and insights.
  • Monitor and maintain cost accounting systems and ensure data integrity within ERP systems.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to provide cost analysis and recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost management processes, focusing on efficiency, accuracy, and clear documentation.
  • Participate in internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment by actively sharing knowledge, best practices, and supporting open communication across cost management functions.

A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $64,000 - $90,000. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package.
