About The Position

The Cost Accountant job ensures that Cavco’s End of Month reports and records are appropriately maintained in a timely and accurate manner. The Cost Accountant is a non-degreed accountant (although business degree preferred) supporting coordination of initiatives supporting plant operations. This role works independently executing process steps, conducting analysis, problem solving and delivering recommendations.

Requirements

• Associates degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred
• 4 years directly related experience
• Previous accounting experience desired
• Medium level of Excel
• Ability to work under pressure and deadlines
• Organizational skills
• Ability to deal with all levels of management
• Team player

Responsibilities

• Provides detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems, applying principles of cost accounting.
• Plans study and gathers data to determine costs of business activity, such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
• Analyzes data obtained and documents results.
• Excludes paraprofessional cost accounting positions.
• Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
• Analyzes actual manufacturing costs, and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
• Other support duties for General Manager as required
