About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant for our client located in the Lexington / Denton area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, analyzing, and controlling cost information to help drive business decisions and ensure financial efficiency. This role plays a key part in budgeting, performance evaluation, and cost control across various departments.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in manufacturing or production environments.
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and GAAP.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Epicor / Kinetic software, QuickBooks, or similar).
Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

CPA or CMA is a plus.

Responsibilities

Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
Perform cost variance analysis and provide insights into causes of discrepancies.
Monitor inventory transactions and reconcile inventory accounts.
Maintain and update the cost accounting system, including bill of materials (BOM) and routing.
Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes related to cost accounting.
Work closely with operations, purchasing, and supply chain teams to understand cost drivers.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities related to production and operations.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
Support audits and provide documentation as needed.
