About The Position

Cost Accountant – Project Manager We are looking for an experienced project cost accountant to join our team in support of CW - PacStar’s Engineering group. As our Cost Accountant – Project manager, you will use your finance expertise to manage and forecast hardware, network, and software engineering projects. Prior experience supporting government contracts is highly desired. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in government contract cost accounting, project cost accounting, or similar
  • Experience working with Financial ERP systems including SAGE, Deltek Costpoint, SAP, Oracle or similar
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong data analysis skills to identify project trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve performance
  • Strong financial modeling skills and the ability to make informed project expense and revenue projections
  • Exceptional Excel skills, particularly with lookup functions, pivot tables, sumifs, and other automated functions
  • A high level of comfort tracking budgets, historical costs, and Estimate at Complete costs on a per project basis, including highlights of below spend targets, anticipated cost overruns, and other pertinent details
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; the ability to collaborate with Engineering managers, project managers, and senior leadership
  • Strong organizational and attention to detail skills combined with excellent time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to present findings in a clear and ordered manner

Nice To Haves

  • Prior government contracting experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial aspects of projects, ensuring budget adherence and optimal resource allocation
  • Collaborate with Engineering managers to develop cost forecasts for projects, both IRAD and CRAD; forecast details include employees assigned, hours expected, cost rates per hour, ODC costs, etc. and would include allocation of all OH charges
  • Support financial decision-making to enhance project profitability and sustainability
  • Provide insights on expenses and present cost-saving insights to reduce project waste and increase project profitability
  • Review time charged on a per pay period basis to ensure all staff are charging time as incurred and that time is charged to the correct project or OH account
  • Ensure all income charges are correctly charged to projects
  • Create Excel reports to pull data including project numbers, utilization rates, forecasts, and autoload that data into reporting sheets
  • Review accumulated costs and EACs with Engineering managers monthly
  • Provide accurate and timely reports to Division and Corporate as required
  • Regularly brief Business Unit Controller and/or General Manager on project and budget status
  • Other duties as assigned
