About The Position

The purpose of this job is to underwrite correspondent mortgage loans for compliance with all investor guidelines.

Requirements

• High school education
• 5 years experience in mortgage loan underwriting
• Experience in underwriting FNMA/FHLMC/FHA/VA /USDA Rural Housing investor loans
• Designated as an FHA DE underwriter
• Designated as a VA Automatic underwriter
• Designated as a VA Lapp underwriter
• Documented experience in wholesale mortgage lending including underwriting, loan review, closing, funding, and post closing follow up areas
• General understanding and knowledge of underwriting and compliance guidelines
• Experience in working with mortgage brokers and correspondents
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to efficiently handle workflows
• Ability to communicate well with broker and correspondent clients
• Superior problem solving skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent PC skills

Nice To Haves

• College coursework preferred

Responsibilities

• Underwrite credit and property for correspondents
• Provide assistance to correspondent for questions asked / use of DU system
• Act as consultant by phone and e-mail on loan questions / problems to correspondents
• Keep informed of all investor guidelines
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor
• Review and respond to management regarding quality control exceptions
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
