About The Position

Reporting to a Correctional Lieutenant III and/or Correctional Housing Unit Manager III this position is responsible for assisting the Correctional Lieutenant and/or in the supervision of Correctional Officers at a medium and close custody institution. Job responsibilities include; but are not limited to, the following: - Supervising Correctional Officer III’s in a close-custody institution with restrictive and controlled housing. - Assigning lower-level custody staff to a particular area or post, arranging work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing operational procedures, and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy. - Overseeing officer activities/performance and ensuring that the custody, security, and welfare of offenders are maintained.

Requirements

  • MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
  • Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Produce a negative drug screening result
  • Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience as a Correctional Officer Or Two years of experience as a Correctional Officer III Or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
