About The Position

Reporting to the Correctional Housing Unit Manager and/or Correctional Lieutenant III at a multi-custody male correctional facility, the primary job duties of this position includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Providing first-line supervision to Correctional Officer III's in a close-custody institution with restrictive and controlled housing. 2. Assigning lower level custody staff to post(s). 3. Overseeing officer activities and performance, and ensuring that custody, security, and welfare of offenders is maintained. 4. Arranging work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing standard operational procedures, and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to departmental policy.

Requirements

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years of experience as a Correctional Officer, OR two years of experience as a Correctional Officer III; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.
