About The Position

Reporting directly to the Associate Warden of Programs at a multi-custody male correctional facility, this position has the responsibility to manage and provide supervision for various treatments, case management, and activity programs in the Programs Department. Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Providing supervision to subordinate staff and assigning duties and directing staff in carrying out the functions required in the operation of major treatment and activity area. 2. This position is differentiated from the Correctional Programs Director I due to added scope and complexities when it is used in a statewide program. 3. Monitoring the following programs: Case Management (Entire population will have an assigned Case manager), Recreation/Leisure Activities (The entire population will have access to these programs.), Community Volunteer, Incentive Wage/Work Assignments, Specialized Treatment Programs, Substance Abuse, Cognitive Behavior Intervention, Parenting Programs, Napoleon Hill, Character Education, & Anger Management. 4. Working effectively with community groups and utilizing knowledge of community resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services or criminal justice field from an appropriately accredited institution AND three years of experience in correctional programs management or related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented experience in organizing, supervising and coordinating activities and programs for large numbers of staff/and or offenders.
  • Documented knowledge of departmental policies and guidelines and be able to interpret those policies and develop institutional guidelines commensurate with departmental policies.
  • Documented knowledge of personnel policies, the ability to deal effectively with personnel problems and develop training for personnel under his/her supervision.
  • Documented working knowledge of vocational, academic, and/or correctional programs.
  • Documented knowledge of community resources.
