About The Position

Reporting to the Associate Warden of Operations at a multi custody male correctional facility, this position is responsible for the supervision of subordinate staff. Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Managing the operations of an institutional housing unit within a multi-custody correctional facility, which may include controlled or restrictive housing, medical and/or mental health units. 2. Supervising staff, determining and evaluating program design necessary to meet the needs of the offender population, and coordinating the programs and services with programs and custody staff. 3. Carrying out the programmatic/operational orientation of offender which includes education, mental health, administrative and disciplinary segregation, and work assignments. 4. Chairing the facility classification committee as needed and providing the final approving authority on unit classification and disciplinary committees. (Salary Range: $43,267 - $75,718)

Requirements

  • High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND five years of correctional experience, three of which must have been at the supervisory level; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented experience with report writing.
  • Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques, and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
  • Documented knowledge of Prison Policies and Procedures and/or Facility Operations.
