About Logansport Juvenile Correctional Facility: As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Logansport Juvenile Correctional Facility Intake Unit promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. The Logansport Juvenile Correctional Facility is a maximum security Correctional facility for juvenile males. The Logansport Juvenile Correctional Facility is located in Logansport, Indiana. The Logansport Juvenile Correctional Facility (formerly the Logansport Juvenile Intake/Diagnostic Facility) serves as the intake facility for all male juveniles committed to the Indiana Department of Correction. Role Overview: As a Correctional Lieutenant, you will be responsible for the training in emergency preparedness and response of the various teams within the Indiana Department of Correction. You will be responsible for the management, supervision, and safety of the facility, offenders, coworkers, and the general public. In addition, you must apply the IDOC and facility rules, policies, and procedures in a firm, fair, and consistent manner to both offenders and subordinate staff. Work is diverse and varied. You must remain vigilant to all breaches of security and threats. In the event of an emergency, effective leadership must be immediately exhibited. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: Oversee daily inspections of the units. Track all incidents, properly vet, and report all incidents to the Operations Center. Lead assigned staff in maintaining the security and safety of offenders, buildings, and grounds. Follow all policies and procedures related to facility's operations and emergency preparedness. Provide input to supervisors on staff assignments, performance, corrective actions, and specific security issues with potential resolutions. Assist in identifying offender treatment needs and support programs for treatment and rehabilitation which may include encouraging offenders to accept professional assistance and treatment from staff as needed. Direct staff regarding the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility. Act as shift supervisor in the absence of the Captain or serve as the custody supervisor at smaller facilities. Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development. Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
