About The Position

This position is located at Neuse Correctional Institution in Goldsboro, North Carolina. This is a medium custody male facility. This position will provide supervision of subordinate staff.

Requirements

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years six months of experience as a Correctional Sergeant, or two years of experience as a Correctional Sergeant II; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.

Nice To Haves

Thorough knowledge of the methods and procedures of discipline and rehabilitation of inmates confined to a correctional facility or institution.
Ability to plan, coordinate and supervise the work of subordinate employees.

Responsibilities

Conduct shift line-up and inspect all assigned staff to ensure that all are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
Complete & review shift time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, incident reports, conduct internal investigations, complete administrative forms & conduct employee performance evaluations.
Ensure that all assigned equipment is ready for operation.
Ensure that all assigned staff are properly relieved to attend Training when scheduled.
Work 12.25 hour shifts and will be required to work days, nights, weekend, holidays as scheduled on the shift assignment.
