About The Position

Northeast Correctional Facility in St. Johnsbury, is looking for a Facility Shift Supervisor. You will oversee daily operations and staff during their assigned shift, ensuring the safety and security of the public, staff and inmates by enforcing policies, conducting inspections, managing inmate movements and counts, resolving conflicts, and responding to emergencies . This role requires strong leadership, decision-making skills, and the ability to manage high-stress situations effectively. Due to shift and post bidding, this position could be placed on any shift depending upon seniority. Correctional and supervisory work involving direction of a major section of a correctional facility during a shift. Duties include instruction, deployment and supervision of security and operations staff in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures, and response to emergencies as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior. All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships and results orientation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher AND two (2) or more years of work experience INCLUDING one (1) year in a correctional institution involving the custody of inmates.
  • Associates degree AND four (4) or more years of work experience INCLUDING three (3) years in a correctional institution involving the custody of inmates.
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND five (5) or more years of work experience, INCLUDING three (3) years in a correctional institution involving the custody of inmates.
  • Four (4) or more years of military experience AND one (1) or more years in a correctional system involving the custody of inmates.
  • Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
  • Candidates who have any felony conviction record or who, within the past five (5) years, have been placed under supervision or sanctioned for a misdemeanor conviction must receive a waiver from the Commissioner of Corrections in order to be considered for employment.
