About The Position
This position is assigned to Maury Correctional Institution. Position will be assigned to a housing unit in the custody area. Effective verbal/written communication with other staff, offenders, and the general public is required. The role involves being capable of defending oneself against attack by violent persons and working under stressful conditions caused by direct contact with incarcerated offenders who can become physically violent or verbally abusive. Responsibilities include conducting continuous visual/audio surveillance of the assigned work area, accurately operating office machines, and preparing written reports/forms that accurately reflect information reviewed from various sources. The position also requires demonstrating and instructing offenders in the proper safe use of tools, equipment, and supplies, reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating various documents and behavioral data gathered from interviews, documentation, and personal observation. Additionally, the role involves performing crisis intervention and routine counseling, including suicide prevention, accounting for supplies and equipment, and implementing/managing correctional programs.
