About The Position

Reporting to a Correctional Programs Supervisor at a multi-custody female correctional facility, this position is primarily responsible for all aspects concerning a caseload of offenders. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Providing supportive counseling to offenders. 2. Answering and following up on offender questions and problems. 3. Making recommendations to the classification committee. 4. Conducting assessments and developing case plans. 5. Assisting in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders (such as offender work assignments, work release, education, or recreation; as well as transition planning and coordinating). 6. Coordinating transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
