About The Position

This position is located at Orange Correctional, Hillsborough, NC in Orange County. This is a minimum custody facility that houses up to 180 regular population inmates and has 40 restrictive housing beds. Work in this class involves assisting the Superintendent in the day-to-day management and operation of the facility which provides a vast variety of programs and services to the offender population. The major duties of this position will include: managing the total custody section, including the food service operation and provide for the safety and security of the facility. This position reviews all incident reports, assigns and reviews internal investigations, conducts critical internal investigations, reviews offender requests and responds appropriately, and assures that the personnel resources are allocated for the maximum benefit of the facility. This position handles special assignments as assigned by the Warden. This facility houses and provides services to a maximum of 220 offenders and employees approximately 66 staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of supervisory, administrative or consultative experience in corrections or related work; OR High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience at or above the Correctional Lieutenant level; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

  • Documented Knowledge of Prison’s policy and procedures/Facility Operations
  • Preference will be given to applicants who has experience work as a Captain/OIC or higher
